Our Story

Built With Villages, Not Just For Them

How It Started

A Return to Village, 2026

EarthAbode began with a simple thought: what if travelling to the mountains meant becoming a part of a village, rather than simply passing through it?

In Garur, surrounded by forests, farms and old settlements of Uttarakhand, we began noticing what is often easy to overlook — homes filled with stories, families carrying generations of traditions, fields still moving with the rhythm of the seasons, and a way of life slowly fading as younger generations leave their villages in search of education and work in the cities.

We wanted to imagine a different kind of tourism.

One where travellers could wake up to birds instead of alarms, share meals cooked by local families, walk along forgotten village trails, sit around a fire under the mountain sky, learn how the land is cultivated, listen to stories passed down through generations — and, for a few days, simply experience what it means to live at the pace of the mountains.

EarthAbode is our beginning.

A rural tourism initiative rooted in Garur, created to connect travellers with the people, homes, food, stories and landscapes that make Uttarakhand what it truly is.

Because we believe tourism should be more than a journey through a village.

It should be a journey into its life — and leave you with a reason to care about it.

What We Stand For

Principles Over Growth

Direct-to-Host

We charge hosts zero listing fees and take no commission from their stay price — our margin comes only from optional add-on experiences.

Community-Led

Village coordinators — not head-office staff — decide which homes join the platform and set their own prices.

Low-Impact by Design

No new construction — every stay is in an existing family home, capped at group sizes the village can comfortably host.
